James Scowcroft is due to be in Leicester tomorrow to continue talks with Peter Taylor. Earlier there were reports of a hitch but this now seems to have been overcome. |

A typical pre-season friendly with a non-league side ended with Town running out comfortable 5-1 winners. The game gave Town fans their first opportunity to watch Pablo Couñago and Andy Marshall while Tommy Miller was in attendence, although not playing. |

Town's third pre-season game ended in another win this time 5-1 against Estonians FC Flora. Goals from Marcus Stewart, Pablo Couñago (2), Jamie Clapham and Martijn Reuser won Town the game. |

Reports this morning claim that contrary to earlier stories Town's Spanish-based target is not Spanish. Yesterday's story which claimed that Deportivo's Fran may be the player we are after has therefore also been rubbished. |

Tommy Miller looks likely to become Town's first cash outlay of the summer if he passes a medical. Reports this afternoon say the Hartlepool player has agreed to join Town for an initial fee now thought to be £750,000. The fee will rise to £1 million depending on appearances etc. |
Scowy Bid Turned Down - Sheepshanks Thu 12th Jul 2001 19:39
Town chairman David Sheepshanks has said that Town have turned down Leicester’s bid for James Scowcroft, thought to be around the £3.5 million mark. However, it seems this is not necessarily the end of the matter with further developments likely. Sheepshanks has also said that Town themselves have two bids in at present, although he wasn’t giving any names. One of these is likely to be Hartlepool’s Tommy Miller. |

Coventry City have announced that Town and Aston Villa have both made formal bids for their midfielder Moustapha Hadji. Earlier in the week George Burley denied that a bid had been put in, but intimated that he was interested in the player. This it seems is now confirmed. |

Reports today claim that Arsenal are continuing their pursuit of Feyenoord's Polish goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek. The Dudek deal had appeared to have broken down prior to Richard Wright beginning talks with the North Londoners. |

Town manager George Burley has acted quickly to confirm that James Scowcroft is very much in his plans for next season. Rumours have been suggesting that Scowcroft may go elsewhere during the summer with Leicester, linked with the striker at the end of last year, rumoured to again be interested. |
